Nags Head is where it all began for us. A town screaming for entertainment in 1984 (although they didn't know it the 1st year), we opened our first club in the old Armada Hotel. Comedy was such a new concept for the Outer Banks, when locals and tourists were told about who would be appearing, they'd respond, "They're live". It was that Groucho Marx philosophy. If it's good, it can't be here. How wrong they were. We're now proud to say that this club is the longest-running summer Comedy Club in the country. |

Learning as we went along, we saw bi-planes pulling advertisements over the beach daily. So keeping up with the Jones' with our advertising budget (a six pack of beer) was difficult. We got our banner flying in our own humorous style. |

Our next location on the Outer Banks was the longest continuously running hotel on the beach, The Carolinian Hotel. Built in 1946 and opened in 1947 it was like the "Overlook" in the Shining. Even after being torn down the ghosts of Drew Carey, Sinbad, John Riggi, Darryl Hammond and many more still haunt the laundry rooms of the homes built on the site with comedy. |
